JANUARY 2012 UPDATE You might be wondering about progress? About whether they fixed it?
Did we get our money back??? No! but the squeal is gone -
perhaps the nightmare is ended? We will see, won't we?!?
This page has been revised a few times. What happened earlier ...
In May I said: Nothing further to report at this stage, but I'll certainly be updating the information if and when anything changes.
Meanwhile we're stuck with The Squealing Banshee;
Seems Mazda's not interested in doing what some might consider the "right thing".
State Manager says they'll just keep arranging workshop services until it's fixed (apparently We are under some "contractual condition of purchase"). They can keep doing that for another year or six?
So anyway, April 20 they're collecting this Mazda monster and "will return it when fixed"
(This time, it's to be done at Head Office!) Fair enough. Another loan car...
      BUT LOOK !!!   MAY 4th
the car is STILL at HEAD OFFICE   and we are expected to be impressed ???

The latest Mazda 2 Poo video tells the whole story... and yet their staff (local sales, service, cust service at H.O.) repeated response has been "your videos are of no interest to us!"
So be it; LET IT SQUEAL then!
Let the whole world see and hear this abomination that my wife is driving!
Why is Mazda so unconcerned about our 90 days of embarrassment, about our comfort or that of our neighbours?
Would it not have been better for everyone to simply GIVE US A REFUND ?
Even now, 4 months old - has a mere 2000 km on the clock.
No; Their only obligation - apparently, from a Mazda customer service standpoint, is to rectify the problem...
AND SO AGAIN THEY ARE "WORKING ON IT"...
At the outset we had been informed by the seller "Mazda has the world's best reputation for keeping its customers happy". Well how about that?!? If there's a New Car Buyer in our neighbourhood - Mazda has already damaged its "reputation" around here and they haven't made this customer very happy at all !!!

Chris sold her trouble free 1998 Toyota Starlet and replaced it (paid cash) with a Mazda
My 1998 Toyota Corolla has had 3 new batteries but just 5 services in it's whole life !!!

By allowing this vehicular LEMON to stay in circulation, what damage has Mazda done to its all important corporate image? Do all problems disappear when this car functions "properly" and is returned to us ? I doubt it.
Does my wife SUDDENLY become a "satisfied customer"?
Me: I helped pay for it but I'm no fan... I won't be driving it.
Can't imagine my neighbours keeping their opinions secret either - Can you?
So anyway folks - You take care; Mind what you BUY !!!

Suggest you road test any New vehicle (or Used one) accordingly !!!

ANSWER : The little old convertible is a restored 1929 Austin Seven, purchased early 1980's, for sale at just a couple of thousand dollars. Wonder what it's worth now...

Ideal family car ?
Seating capacity 2 plus small picnic basket !!! Used mainly for leisurely weekend drives. Brakes? Ok; Always pulling the car to a halt. EVENTUALLY.
Don't recall THEM ever squealing...
No long trips however; One tends to stay close enough to home to return by taxi if necessary. (At 80yo we reckon this old classic car might spit the dummy anytime!)
Good advertising though;
With its Free House Plans signs on each door, this tiny Red Vintage Car turns more heads than the bright yellow Porsche (used car bargain) I once owned.

Car Finance

Sorry! I'm no expert ... just thought I'd share my experience.
Day to Day Motoring? We bought two cars.
One for her - one for me.
Both new vehicles and we didn't have the cash...
Needed some help with finance. Car Dealer only too happy to organise a car loan : )
It was our bank that came to the rescue!
Best deal I could find was not a Car Loan; Not a Second Mortgage... but
Refinancing:
Decided instead to re finance the existing home loan, interest rates being a good bit lower than other forms of finance available at the time.
Got some extra to spend on the house as well...

Compare Interest Rates & see if it makes sense to you?

Not much of an option for those who don't have equity in real estate, but an excellent method of purchasing your new car, or cars if you do ? One small disadvantage, of course:
We'll still be paying for those two cars until the home loan is paid off !
But the payments don't hurt a lot. Guess we might do the same again next time around!
