Your OzPianoman spends a fair bit of time outdoors these days.
Some months ago I took up LAWN BOWLS and became an avid fan.
No longer simply an old persons pursuit or pastime; Lawn Bowls now attracts young people en masse and it's becoming a big money sport worldwide!

Club championships are being contested by 14 year olds. 19 year olds are turning Pro. Australia's hope for Bowls success by our Commonwealth Games team rested almost entirely upon a select group of 26 super athlete, males 'n females - their average age being younger than the Aussie Cricket team!

With sports minded men/women in their 20's, 30s and 40s now flocking to the game, I'll make a prediction: "You thought Tennis was big ? Just wait till America discovers Lawn Bowls" !!!

Had been reading up on eyewear technology developed during the space program, by NASA scientists, for astronauts exposed to the dangers up there. Decided to try these special Blue Blocker lenses reported to screen out the "harmful" blue, violet and ultraviolet light - and claimed to "enhance" one's vision.

Here in Australia we need all the Sun protection we can get! That huge ozone hole stretching all the way up from Antartica is causing Aussie sun lovers a lot of grief...

Imagine a 3 dimensional quality which, at say 20 or 30 feet, seems to highlight certain things - and it's almost like using a fluoro marker on individual blades of grass!
Distant objects are not so hazy and indistinct anymore.

Starting 8 am, lasting a full day and drawing entries from most clubs in the region, the Singles event pits 50 finalists against each other in a tough knockout competition.
My most memorable day?
Indeed it was ... 60 years on planet Earth and in any sport, my First ever Winner's trophy !!!

And for any player using a specific spot on the green to help intensify their target line, that great advantage derived from blocking out blue spectrum and UV light is immediately evident.

At the home club, a number of my bowls companions were amazed by the clarity ( just like we've seen on tv) and both young and old, male and female alike, began requesting me to obtain pairs of "blue" blocking sunglasses for them.
